That experience just over a week ago on a super dangerous stretch of Fettersmill Road turned out to be surprisingly illuminating.
For 26 years, there are aspects of my Keet that drive me nuts AND that I somehow expect to just go away. How different it is to realize, "Hey, it drives me nuts & it's how he is." He's not going to wake up one day feeling, "It's important to be curious & delving." He's not going to wake up with both physical & emotional peripheral vision. He's not going to wake up with all the instincts & awarenesses born of taking care of little kids all his life.
He's going to wake up being JOHN, and that's good enough for me.
